Modern manufacturing will generate 3.5 million high-skilled jobs in the next decade, with many roles potentially going unfilled due to a lack of trained employees. The industry must act to close this growing skills gap.
But how?
Manufacturers must continue to dispel the outdated myths and misperceptions of our industry by showcasing modern manufacturing to parents and young people.
A powerful way to do that is by inviting parents, students and teachers into your facilities to show them first-hand what a rewarding career in modern manufacturing looks like. Manufacturing Day is the day when manufacturers open their doors and, by doing so, open the minds of the next generation, inspiring more young people to come and join the manufacturing team.
Since 2014, manufacturers from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico have participated in MFG Day, making it a truly national celebration of modern manufacturing.
