OEN Women Investor Series

Live, interactive sessions to learn about early-stage investing & connect with women investors in Oregon

 

This three part series provides an overview of early-stage investing from rockstar Oregon women pros. It offers a women-only space for questions and discussion, and will be an exciting gathering of incredible women shaking things up in Oregon.

Three online sessions: May 5th, 12th, 19th, 4-6pm. Each includes a meaty download on investing from an Oregon woman pro, two women founder pitches, plus lots of small group networking.

April 29th, 4-5pm: FREE Series overview, including “Intro to Early-Stage Investing” with Caroline Lewis from Rogue Venture Partners.

Series Sessions, all 4-6pm via Zoom:

  • May 5: Due Diligence with Star Read, Aventurine
  • May 12: Crafting a Successful Deal with Mary Hull, Stoel Rives
  • May 19: Building a Community of Women Investors, featuring Su Embree of DHM Research, Amy Jermain of XXcelerate, and Nicole Schmidt, of Source.

Who should attend: Oregon/PNW residents who identify as women and already do or are interested in early-stage startup investing.

Rogue Venture Partners

Caroline is a partner at Rogue Venture Partners, a seed stage venture capital firm located in Portland, Oregon. Rogue has two active funds, Fund III and Rogue Women’s Fund, actively investing in seed stage technology companies across the US. Caroline leverages her previous experience and knowledge gained from being a Kauffman Fellow to source and lead new deals, as well as, help Rogue’s portfolio companies. Prior to Rogue, Caroline was Senior Director in Strategy and Operations for Global Design, Product, and Merchandising at Nike where she managed a portfolio of programs focused on consumer experience, digitization, and big data. Prior to being recruited to work for Nike, Caroline was a management consultant for Propeller and Hitachi Consulting, working with Fortune 100 companies on enterprise technology implementations and organizational restructuring. Caroline graduated as a Division 1 Field Hockey player with an MS in Psychology from Davidson College, in Davidson, North Carolina. She then received an MBA with a focus on entrepreneurship from Portland State University.

Stoel Rives

Mary is a corporate and securities partner at Stoel Rives LLP and is chair of the firm’s Technology Ventures Group.  Mary represents technology and consumer companies from formation through private financings and mergers and acquisitions, and specializes in startups and angel investing transactions. She also represents investors in venture capital financings. Mary graduated cum laude from Amherst College, and magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School.

Star is a General Partner at Aventurine, focused on advancing commercially viable scientific research for market and social impact. She’s also the fund manager for Founders Pad, which offers both investment and extensive technical assistance to founders. Star is known for her expertise in conducting due diligence providing operational support. Star graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Integrative Biology.
