SBA: SCORE - Become a Mentor!

SCORE Salem is hosting an afternoon interview with local small business owners, Matt Keurbis, of HossSoss and Cassandra Portner, successful kayak gear entrepreneur.  Matt will share about how Volunteers Matter and the positive takeaways that have helped him create business success. Cassandra will talk about steps she took to turn her passion into a business.

Inc. Magazine suggests that “The success rate of mentored small businesses compared to those without a mentor is stunning: 70 percent of mentored businesses survive more than five years, double the rate for non-mentored small businesses over that same period”.

In FY17, Salem SCORE provided mentoring sessions and workshops to 462 attendees. Salem SCORE clients started 66 new businesses. Small business owners who received SCORE advising created 206 new jobs.
