MFG Day 2021

October 1, 2021, Recognized as National Manufacturing Day by the City of McMinnville and Yamhill County Board of Commissioners

(MCMINNVILLE, OR) - McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP) is pleased to announce that both the City of McMinnville and the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners signed resolutions this week officially declaring October 1, 2021, as National Manufacturing Day. The City of McMinnville also announced that in conjunction with National Manufacturing Day, October 1st would be known as McMinnville Made Day, celebrating the myriad of products that are produced locally in our community.

Manufacturing Day is an annual, national event executed at the local level on the first Friday in October. The goal of Manufacturing Day is to help showcase the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders. It is a day focused on empowering manufacturers so they can in turn help their local communities and future generations thrive.

Manufacturing and traded sector companies make a very significant contribution to the national, state, and local economy; and McMinnville is fortunate to be the home of over 90 world-class manufacturing and traded sector companies featuring a multitude of locally made products. These companies add to the vitality and prosperity of our community by employing over 2,000 in McMinnville alone and over 5,800 employees throughout Yamhill County. Manufacturing has a revenue impact of $174,836,000 in McMinnville and nearly 1 billion in revenue impact throughout the county.

Heather Blank, the Interim Director of McMinnville Economic Development Partnership said “ Our manufacturing industries are vital to the economic prosperity of our community. It is truly important we recognize the positive impact these businesses have and continue to have through the creation of living-wage jobs, not only in McMinnville but throughout all of Yamhill County.  We are excited to celebrate our local manufacturing companies and the thousands of employees that support them, not only on October 1 but every day. MEDP is dedicated to continuing our work to grow and strengthen our local manufacturers and traded-sector industries.”
