(MCMINNVILLE, OR) - McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP) is pleased to announce that both the City of McMinnville and the Yamhill County Board of Commissioners signed resolutions this week officially declaring October 2, 2020 as National Manufacturing Day. The City of McMinnville also announced that in conjunction with National Manufacturing Day, October 2nd would be known as McMinnville Made Day, celebrating the myriad of products that are produced locally in our community.
Manufacturing Day is an annual, national event executed at the local level on the first Friday in October. The goal of Manufacturing Day is to help showcase the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. It is a day focused on empowering manufacturers so they can in turn help their local communities and future generations thrive.
Manufacturing and traded sector companies make a very significant contribution to the national, state, and local economy; and McMinnville is fortunate to be the home of over 90 world-class manufacturing and traded sector companies featuring a multitude of locally made products. These companies add to the vitality and prosperity of our community by employing over 2,000 in McMinnville alone, and over 6,800 throughout Yamhill County.
Scott Cooper the Executive Director of McMinnville Economic Development Partnership said “It is truly important we recognize the positive impact these businesses have in our communities, not only in McMinnville but throughout all of Yamhill County, in the past, present, and future. We are excited to celebrate our manufacturing community, not only on October 2, but every day, and we will continue to work with our economic vitality partners to highlight and support our local manufacturers.”
