McMinnville Showcases Circular Economy Innovation During Pacific Northwest Industrial Symbiosis Conference Tour

McMinnville welcomed attendees of the inaugural Pacific Northwest Industrial Symbiosis Conference on June 28 for an exclusive tour highlighting local companies that are transforming the way resources are used, reused, and reimagined. 

Organized as part of the inaugural regional conference, the tour introduced business leaders, sustainability professionals, and economic development partners to four innovative McMinnville companies—New Energy Works, Solid Carbon, Chapul Farms, and Revino—each demonstrating unique approaches to sustainability, resource efficiency, and the circular economy. 

The afternoon began with a welcome lunch at Mac Market, hosted by New Energy Works, followed by remarks from McMinnville City Manager Adam Garvin and Yamhill County Commissioner Kit Johnston, and included a presentation by Chapul Farms. Attendees then visited each company to learn how their innovations are creating environmental and economic value. 

From New Energy Works' commitment to sustainable mass timber construction and Solid Carbon's carbon storage technology, to Chapul Farms' regenerative agricultural solutions and Revino's reusable wine bottle system, each stop showcased how businesses can rethink traditional systems to reduce waste, conserve resources, and create new economic opportunities. 

Industrial symbiosis encourages businesses to collaborate by finding productive uses for materials, energy, and byproducts that might otherwise go to waste. These partnerships strengthen regional economies while advancing sustainability goals—an approach that aligns well with McMinnville's growing ecosystem of innovative manufacturers, food and beverage producers, and clean technology companies.
