MEDP Board Announces Leadership Transition

Apr 6, 2021

(MCMINNVILLE, OR) - The McMinnville Economic Development Partnership (MEDP) Board of Directors would like to congratulate Scott Cooper on accepting a new position as Business Development Manager with the City of Scottsdale. His last day with MEDP will be April 23. The MEDP Board will be announcing the recruitment process soon.

“Scott and his team have worked with the Board, our partners, and local businesses to ensure the continued economic vitality of our community, and have helped guide and support recovery efforts as we are emerging from the circumstances presented by Covid-19.  Over the past year, the staff have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to this community, the mission of the organization, and providing quality leadership and services to help McMinnville compete and succeed in a fast-paced global economy.  Scott’s vision and direction will be missed, but I’m confident we have the right team in place to maintain excellent service to our community and support the mission and vision of the organization through this transition.“  remarked MEDP Board Chair John Dietz.

Cooper, who is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council, was named MEDP’s Executive Director in the spring of 2019. During his time here he helped to develop and implement four strategic goals at the heart of the organization. Business Retention and Expansion, Workforce Development, Business Attraction, and Innovation Development.

“It’s been an honor to be a part of a great organization and such a warm community. McMinnville is a city with wonderful people, a tremendous sense of place, a culture of success, and a business community that demonstrates leadership. I look forward to keeping tabs on the happenings and new developments in this area and look forward to coming back to visit the Willamette Valley.”  stated Cooper.

MEDP staff and board will be available throughout the transition to support business needs and will continue to work towards our mission to advance strategies that respond to the needs of McMinnville's traded-sector businesses.  “We will continue to focus on growing and diversifying McMinnville’s economic base, bringing new investments, new businesses, and new opportunities to the City of McMinnville.” said board member Mike Morris.
